The Mexican army says it’s apprehended suspected drug cartel members believed to be involved in the recent burning of cars and blocking of roads in the city of Guadalajara.
The two brothers are believed to be members of The New Generation Jalisco cartel. The pair were apprehended in separate operations in the state of Jalisco along with seven other men. The army believes the pair are responsible for organizing, coordinating and executing the blocking of roads and the burning of vehicles on August 25th after a dramatic daylight shootout between federal police and drug gang members.
The New Generation Jalisco cartel is one of the fastest-growing drug gangs in Mexico. President Felipe Calderon’s conservative administration has led a military crackdown on drug cartels that has claimed more than 55,000 lives in the past six years.
